Privacy Policy
Effective 5 July 2026
DataEngine ("DataEngine", "we", "us") is operated by FlexCloud Technologies. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect when you use the DataEngine app and website, why we collect it, how we use and protect it, and the rights you have. By using DataEngine you agree to this policy.
1. Information we collect
Account & profile: your name, phone number, email address and password when you register and manage your account.
Identity verification (KYC): your BVN or NIN and the name returned by the verification service, used only to confirm your identity and set your transaction limits as required by law.
Transactions & wallet: your wallet balance, funding, airtime/data/bill/education purchases, airtime-to-cash requests, and bank account details you provide for payouts.
Device & usage: device type, app version, and basic technical logs needed to operate the app, keep it secure, and diagnose problems.
Contacts (optional): if you use the contact picker to choose a phone number, we access the single number you select. We do not upload or store your address book.
2. How we use your information
To create and secure your account, sign you in, and support PIN and biometric protection.
To process the services you request (airtime, data, cable, electricity, education PINs, wallet funding, withdrawals and airtime-to-cash) and to show your history and receipts.
To verify your identity, prevent fraud and money laundering, and comply with our legal and regulatory obligations.
To provide customer support, send you service and transaction notifications, and improve DataEngine.
3. Legal basis
We process your data under the Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDPA) 2023 on the basis of: performing our contract with you (to deliver the services you request); your consent (for example, contacts access and optional notifications); our legitimate interest in securing the platform and preventing fraud; and compliance with legal obligations.
4. How we share information
Service providers who help us deliver the services, strictly on our instructions: VTU/airtime & data aggregators, payment and bank-transfer partners, identity-verification (KYC) providers, and cloud/hosting providers.
Your tenant/vendor: DataEngine is a white-label platform. If you registered through a specific vendor’s storefront, that vendor operates your account and can see the account and transaction information needed to serve you.
Regulators and law enforcement where we are legally required to disclose, and to protect our rights, users and the public.
We do not sell your personal information to anyone.
5. Data retention
We keep your information only as long as needed for the purposes above. Because we handle financial transactions, we are required to retain transaction and identity records for the period set by Nigerian financial and data-protection law, even after you delete your account. Records we must keep are minimised and access-controlled.
6. How we protect your data
Passwords are hashed, sensitive credentials are encrypted, and access to production data is restricted. Your transaction PIN and biometric unlock add extra protection on your device. No system is perfectly secure, so please keep your PIN and password private and never share your login or one-time codes with anyone.
7. Your rights
Under the NDPA you have the right to access your data, correct it, request its deletion, object to or restrict certain processing, withdraw consent, and request portability.
You can update your profile in the app, delete your account from the app (Profile → Legal → Delete account) or via the Account Deletion page on this site, or contact us at support@dataengine.ng to exercise any of these rights. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC).
8. Account deletion
You can permanently delete your account from within the app. When you do, your login credentials are anonymised, your sessions are revoked and your profile access is removed. Certain transaction records are retained in anonymised form only where the law requires. See our Account Deletion page for full details.
9. Children
DataEngine is intended for users aged 18 and above. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has used the app, contact us and we will remove the account.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes we will update the effective date and, where appropriate, notify you. Continuing to use DataEngine after an update means you accept the revised policy.
